New Colors FAQ

The new "colors" have been posted....in French.  I will be translating and confirming some information in English.  Please do not post until the topic is complete; it will then be open for questions.  Anything posted beforehand WILL be deleted.  Thanks!

My mod-voice is grey...stronger than steel, but gentle as a dove.

Re: New Colors FAQ

Hi,  here is the translation of the French post.

If you have any questions, please let me know! Catitiz_PDT_22

Here is a classification of the 256 pony colors.

Click on the following image to see the color classification:

http://www.poneyvallee.com/images/upload/couleursponeys.png

These a "normal" colors.

How do hereditary colors work?

- In V1, babies' colors were made of a mix between their parents's colors. For example, the color of a baby who had a yellow coat mommy and a blue coat dad went from yellow to blue including green.
- Now, the baby gets one of his parents' color, chose randomly and with small variants:

http://www.poneyvallee.com/images/upload/couleurenfant.png
(Translation:  Couleur du père = Dad's color
Couleur de la mère = Mom's color
Couleur possibles de l'enfant = probable baby color)

- The grays in the right column are rare and difficult to get: you can get them from black or white parents, but the probability is not high since black and white parents can have babies which are of all the other colors (light if they inherit from their white parent, dark if they inherit from their black parent). What's more, gray parents tend to have black or white babies.

Now lets turn to other rare colors: the "misty " and "pure" ones.

They have icons related to their rank on pony files:
A square icon for normal colors (example: red):http://www.poneyvallee.com/images/upload/icone_normale.png
A diamond-shaped icon for pure colors (example: pure red):http://www.poneyvallee.com/images/upload/icone_pure.png
A circle icon for misty colors (ex: misty red):  http://www.poneyvallee.com/images/upload/icone_brumeuse.png

Pure colors :

- Pure colors are more saturated than normal colors, they are more bright.
- You can get them when you associate two ponies of the same color. For example when you couple two dark red ponies, you get a chance to obtain a pure dark red baby.
- And, pure color ponies have more chance than others to have a pure color baby.
- If you have a pure pony and you want a pure baby, you should associate him/her to a pony of the same color.
Example: Pure dark red pony + Normal dark red pony

Misty colors:

- Misty colors are desaturated compared to normal colors, closer to gray.
- Normal gray colors are quite rare. To get a misty pony, try and couple a pony with a gray pony.
- And, misty color ponies have more chance than others to have a misty color baby.

A few rules:
- There aren't any pure misty colors.
- If you couple a pure pony with a misty pony of another color, you'll just have a chance of having a misty pony.
- Misty colors are the most difficult ones to get.

We have set up this color system so that one of the aims of the game will now be: rare color hunt. So that you can perpetuate the rare pony genealogy.

Re: New Colors FAQ

Are white and black pure by default or not pure at all?

Re: New Colors FAQ

They are not listing as a pure color with a diamond since they are a lack of color & a mass of all colors by definition & cannot have a change of intensity that the computer can recognize. But black & white to players will always be considers a pure shade & tone. At least for me it will.

My mod voice is Turquoise, stone hard and mystical.

Re: New Colors FAQ

Trophy Colors:

There are 10 tones among which:
The blue contains: Turquoise, Cyan, Sky blue, Royal blue, Azure, Denim, Sapphire, Blue, Indigo, Blueish purple and their variants.
Yellow contains: Orangey yellow, Gold, Yellow, Mustard and their variants.
The red contains: Redcurrant, Red, Vermilion, Orangey Red, and their variants.

(This information was originally posted in the News section when the Trophy Room became available. Since I never look for it there and the news is constantly getting updated, I figured I'd post it here, too, where it makes sense for it to be.)

Re: New Colors FAQ

Is there a color grade scale too, ie, what is the difference between very light say versus pastel?

Re: New Colors FAQ

As the table with the color classification is only in French, I decided to translate it into English.
Here the result is:

Hope it helps ;)
